Wow.

Big Man Face director and founder of Bigwig Films Joseph Luster and Tokyoscope and Otaku in USA author Patrick Macias have done a very interesting, Freudian analysis of Little Red Riding Hood.

In response, like Chuck Norris' thoughts on the "Chuck Norris Facts", I'm not sure what to think. Is Red Riding Hood a simple twisted retelling of the Grimm's Fairy Tale told in a Shaw Brothers-style with a bit of Fukasaku mixed in or is it something far, far darker: a psychosexual metaphor for the destruction of Kojiro Abe or a scathing treatus on Japan/China relations (indeed, I wish I could have made the film in 1976 with Shih Szu as Red and Shin Kishida as the Wolf). You be the judge.

Little Red Riding Hood has been YouTubed, babaaaayyy. It is, however, just a fine cut of the movie. The film is still missing one thing: a score from one Neil Cicierega, so thus a good mix of Morricone, Ifukube, Ortolani, etc, etc has been substituted, though some of it will stay in the final cut.

Vol. 1

Vol. 2

Post production is very, very close to completion. One shot has to be trimmed by a few frames and Neil is writing the score right now.

Little Red Riding Hood has a new page on my new website jlcarrozza.com, by the way.

Also, I might as well spill the beans on two upcoming J.L. Carrozza films.

The first, slated to shoot around Spring of 2007 for a summer 2007 release, is Film Club. It's the semi-autobiographical tale of six young men, all movie nerds, each specializing in a different genre and all with little success with women who frequently have meetings to watch and discuss the cult films they enjoy. All this changes with arrival of Tanny, a young woman who threatens the very foundation of Film Club.

The second, slated to shoot summer of 2008 for probably a release in fall 2008 is Divine Comedy, the epic kung fu tale of Christ's battle against the forces of evil. Hopefully, it'll be impressive enough so to get me the money to make The Witch's Castle.

This blog will become Film Club: The Production Diaries once production on that film begins.

Well, as of today, the shooting has wrapped. I apologize for the lack of updates, here are some high resolution Little Red Riding Hood pics to compensate.

And here are some images from the final day of shooting:

Expect a final trailer by Monday at the earliest, Wednesday at the latest.
